Easter has become as commercialised as Christmas. Except Christmas can actually teach people things, which Easter does not seem to. Instead, it is a chance for confectionery companies to sell huge amounts of very much over-priced, and over-packaged, chocolate eggs.
What it does do, though, is provide an opportunity for families to get together. Though of course for some this may not be such a good thing!
The commercialisation of these festivals is down to more than just the chocolate companies, of course, but the growing secularisation of British society and the impotency of Britain's "religious leaders". Organised religion is dying, and it's about time.
